How to Face the Mess We’re in Without Going Crazy

Posted on by NOSC

Joanna Macy, famed author, teacher and eco-philosopher, will conduct a workshop in Port Townsend on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 – 5. Attendance at the workshop, drawing from her latest book Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re In Without Going Crazy, will be limited to 50 participants. Registration begins on March 15 through www.madronamindbody.com/joanna-macy.

Drawing on her work in deep ecology, living systems theory and spiritual traditions, Joanna’s workshops include interactive group processes designed to clarify the skills needed to navigate the challenging times ahead and to help the participants identify the unique role each may play in what she terms the “Great Turning” to a more life-sustaining future.

The cost of the workshop is $100. This includes lunches on both days, tickets to attend Joanna’s public talk on Friday evening and admission to the Great Turning Hootenanny on Saturday evening led by Gretchen Sleicher. Additional donations to support Joanna’s teaching will be requested at the event. A limited number of scholarships are available.

More information about Joanna Macy and her work visit can be found at www.joannamacy.net. Examples of the workshop experience may be found at www.theworkthatreconnects.org.

Tickets for Joanna’s public talk on Friday, May 3 at the Wheeler Theatre at Fort Worden will be available at the Port Townsend Food Co-op and via the Madrona Mind Body website.
