JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 WSU Extension staff for the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) and Coordinator of the WSU Jefferson County Extension Beach Watchers program.  This is a.45 FT temporary appointment that is supported by funds granted on a year-to-year basis as available.  Salary is $20/hour.

 JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for performing lead staff duties for the Jefferson County MRC including writing grant content, managing NWS/MRC grant funds, grant reporting and submission, coordinating and attending Executive Meetings and monthly MRC meetings, and managing the recruitment and training of new MRC members. 

 The WSU Beach Watcher Coordination responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of the WSU Jefferson County Beach Watchers stewardship education program.  This position provides marine expertise, implements an annual 80-100 hour volunteer training program and advanced trainings for specific projects/education; coordinates volunteers in community outreach and projects; and generates extramural funds in furtherance of the program.   More information on the WSU Beach Watcher program can be found athttp://www.beachwatchers.wsu.edu and at

 The Coordinator will be expected to have strong organizational, management, coordination, outreach, and communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Earned Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  2. Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, electronic slide presentations, and email.
  3. Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and delivering effective

educational programs and meeting grant and reporting deadlines.

  1. Experience in coordinating community volunteers.
  2. Experience in project management, budget tracking and reporting.

 Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. Some evening and weekend work with occasional travel outside the area is required. 

 Organization/Location: 

The Coordinator will work at the WSU Jefferson County Extension office in Port Hadlock about six miles from Port Townsend in Jefferson County on the North Olympic Peninsula.
