Our Youth Education Programs Have Hit the Ground Running

Posted on by NOSC

We are in full throttle for our¬†education programs at the moment, having kicked off the season already with the first field day for our Real Learning Real Work program with the Blue Heron middle school. This program takes 7th grade students onto actual restoration sites alongside actual restoration professionals, learning the techniques they use everyday. Students become invested in the project after planning out the entire restoration guide themselves. Back in the classroom, they work across disciplines to create their revegetation plans before returning to the field to plant trees and provide site maintenance. Think you might be interested in teaching students about a healthy ecosystem? Enjoy playing run around games? Want to calculate how much carbon an individual tree has sequestered while helping 6th graders do the same? If you answered yes to any of these, we’d love to have you. ¬†E-mail Olivia at outreach@nosc.org with questions or to receive more details.
