WDFW graph shows record high return for Chimacum Chum!
The end of the year is cause for celebration and reflection–especially for our friends in the water. 2013 turned out to be a BIG year for Chimacum Creek Summer Chum. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife used data collected by NOSC volunteers to produce the graph shown below. Though the final version of the graph is yet to be released, preliminary numbers estimate over 3,000 fish returned to the watershed in 2013. That’s the highest return since efforts to restore the run commenced in the 1980s! Hooray for Chum, Spawner Survey volunteers, and WDFW!!
