Morse Creek Riverine Restoration - Summer 2010
The Morse Creek Riverine Restoration restored salmon and trout habitat along Morse Creek within the 130-acre WDFW wildlife area upstream of Highway 101, just east of Port Angeles. The project re-activated 1700 lineal feet of channel as it existed in 1939, before a dike was installed that confined the creek to steep valley walls and disconnected the creek from 9.3 acres of floodplain. Funding was provided by the SRFB, NACo and NOAA.

Pitship Estuary Restoration - Fall 2009
The project was designed to replace an undersized culvert at an estuary mouth on Sequim Bay with a bridge to restore fish access and restore tidal connection to the estuary. Over time, restoration of tidal flushing will increase estuarine tidal channel length and complexity and increase salt marsh vegetation providing more habitat for juvenile salmon and other wildlife.

Salmon Creek Estuary Restoration – Fall 2008
In summer 2008, excavation and construction of new estuary tidal areas began in south Discovery Bay. A total of 11 acres of new estuarine habitat was created. The construction was completed by the end of October 2008, and the area is now on to the next phase of habitat restoration — planting of native trees and shrubs on the sites and monitoring for fish utilization and sediment accretion.

Habitat Work Schedule
The Habitat Work Schedule (HWS) is a project mapping and tracking database for Washington State’s Salmon Recovery Lead Entities and their partners. It enables natural resource professionals, project funders, and the public to follow past, current, and proposed projects from concept through implementation and then, once complete, into the monitoring phases. This leaves a legacy of local and statewide salmon recovery efforts and creates a better coordinated salmon recovery effort.
You can search projects in the HWS database by name, region, Lead Entity, project category, or status. Alternately, you can browse a list of projects, a hierarchy of project folders, or mapped project locations.
