DESCRIPTION:Join NOSC for our second Member Tour of 2026!\nMember Tours give Salmon Coalition Members the opportunity to see the impact of the work they support with tours of complete\, in-progress\, or upcoming projects with staff members. \nJoin Project Manager Kevin Long on Thursday\, October 1 at 10am for a casual tour of the Price Street restoration site in Port Hadlock. The site sits above critical spawning habitat for endangered Hood Canal summer chum salmon in Chimacum Creek. After decades of restoration helped bring summer chum back to the creek\, erosion\, dumping\, abandoned vehicles\, stormwater runoff\, and other impacts at the Price Street property threatened that progress. Kevin will share how partners worked together to remove vehicles\, a trailer\, concrete slab\, septic system\, and other debris; stabilize the eroding bank; and plant native vegetation. The project helps protect approximately 1.5 miles of heavily used summer chum spawning habitat downstream. \nSpace is limited and RSVP is required. SUMMARY:Orca Recovery Day - Volunteer Planting
DESCRIPTION:Come join us again in celebrating Orca Recovery Day as the Jefferson County Conservation District and the North Olympic Salmon Coalition team up for a planting event at Snow Creek Estuary Preserve! This is important habitat for Endangered Hood Canal summer chum salmon. Recent studies have shown that when Chinook salmon\, the preferred prey of Southern Resident Orcas\, is in short supply\, they’ll supplement their diet with other species\, including chum salmon. \nParking is limited. SUMMARY:Volunteer Stewardship: Make a Difference Day
DESCRIPTION:Join NOSC to steward a restoration site along Discovery Bay! The Maynard restoration project was completed over ten years ago\, after removing 150 creosote pilings from an abandoned railway and restoring 1\,700 feet to natural shoreline. The result is habitat for hard shell clams and forage fish\, an important food fish for salmon\, among many other species. We will continue the work to provide healthy habitat by picking up trash and removing invasives at the Maynard site in celebration of Make a Difference Day. \n  \nEvent Details: \nSaturday\, October 24th \n10am – 2pm \nPlease arrive by 10am for site orientation. We’ll take a break for lunch around noon. A site tour will take place around 1:30. \nTools and gloves will be provided. Please wear layers appropriate for the weather and bring water and a lunch. Footing at the site is uneven. Activity ranges from mild to moderate and can be adapted to ability level.  \nDirections will be provided in RSVP confirmation email.
