Eleanor Stopps Memorial at the PT Marine Science Center

Posted on by NOSC

Protection Island, the largest seabird nesting site in the Pacific Northwest, was granted National Wildlife Refuge status due to the efforts of Eleanor Stopps.  Eleanor was the founder of Admiralty Audubon and a tireless advocate for wildlife.

Funds are being raised for Eleanor’s memorial sculpture or plaque of the birds and sea mammals of Protection Island by wildlife sculptor Tony Angell.  The memorial will be installed at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center as inspiration for those who follow us in Stewardship.
