DESCRIPTION:The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and the North Olympic Salmon Coalition are seeking volunteers to help plant native trees along the Dungeness River on Saturday\, March 23\, 2019.\nIn January 2016\, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe purchased the property that will be planted\, with funding from Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration and Floodplains by Design.\nLast year volunteers planted in this area with the long term goal of restoring the historic floodplain. DESCRIPTION:The North Olympic Salmon Coalition and North Olympic Land Trust are seeking volunteers to help plant native trees along Siebert Creek on Saturday\, January 26\, 2019.\nThe Siebert Creek Conservation Area is a 38.5 acre parcel protected by the North Olympic Land Trust. Approximately 1500 feet of Siebert Creek flows through the conservation area.\nA local nonprofit organization\, called Pacific Woodrush\, purchased the Siebert Creek Conservation Area in 2002. The North Olympic Land Trust then completed conservation easements on three private properties and added 4.5 more acres to the Siebert Creek Conservation Area.\nRevegetation along Siebert Creek will help restore vital fish habitat and boost recreational opportunities.\nTools and gloves will be provided\, but are in limited supply so feel free to bring your own. DESCRIPTION:The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is looking for volunteers to help plant native trees along the Salmon Creek on Saturday\, January 12\, 2019.\nVolunteers will plant trees along a restored stretch of salmon creek\, home to chum and coho salmon\, in order to restore the quality of riparian habitat along the creek corridor. Currently\, the creek has an infestation of Reed Canary Grass that is preventing the growth of riparian trees and shrubs along this critical salmon habitat.\nTools and gloves will be provided\, but are in limited supply so feel free to bring your own. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on January 12\, and will include light refreshments and hot drinks. On Monday\, December\, 31st\, at Finnriver Cider and Orchard\, there will be live jazz music\, pebble blessings\, a Chimacum Creek walk\, and a special lighting of FIN\, the giant migrating salmon.\nThe Chimacum Creek walk will be lead by NOSC’s Stewardship Coordinator\, Sarah Doyle\, who will elaborate on the importance of restoration in our community.
