We are excited to announce Micro Plantings, a way for volunteers to safely participate in Salmon Coalition planting events!

For the safety and well being of all Salmon Coalition volunteers and staff, we will be taking every precaution and enacting COVID-19 safety protocol.

- All events will have a morning and afternoon timeslot, with a limit of 8 volunteers per timeslot.

- Due to extremely limited capacity, YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND.

- All volunteers must sign a COVID-19 safety agreement.

- All volunteers will undergo a brief health screening on the day of the event.

- Face coverings must be worn, and social distancing must be maintained during the event.

- We encourage you to bring your own gloves. If you do not have gloves, we can give you a pair to keep.

- While it is not required, we also encourage you to bring your own tools. NOSC can provide tools for you to borrow, which we will sanitize before and after use.

Kilisut Harbor - POSTPONED (DATE TBD)

The Salmon Coalition will be planting native trees and shrubs at the recently completed Kilisut Harbor Restoration site. The Kilisut Harbor Restoration Project restores tidal connection between southern Kilisut Harbor (Scow Bay) and Oak Bay by removing the earthen causeway from the 1940’s that contained two undersized culverts. The causeway was replaced with a 440-foot bridge. These actions restore natural processes and biological responses to 27 acres of marine intertidal habitat and tidal-fringe salt marsh.

Pysht River - 1.16.21

The Pysht River Conservation Area is a 74-acre property along the Pysht River in western Clallam County. North Olympic Land Trust purchased and restored the property with help from the Makah Tribe, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, North Olympic Peninsula Lead Entity, and the Salmon Recovery Funding Board. Restoration efforts thus far have included removal of dilapidated structures, invasive species removal, and the replanting of over 11,700 native trees and shrubs. The Salmon Coalition will contribute by planting more native species on January 16th.

Kodama Farm - 1.23.21 or 1.30.21

The farmers at Kodama Farm & Food Forest are in the process of implementing a large conservation project along the portion of Chimacum Creek that runs through their land with the help of the Jefferson Land Trust and the Salmon Coalition. This project includes re-meandering Chimacum Creek and planting native shrubs and trees to re-create salmon rearing habitat. On January 23rd and 30th, the Salmon Coalition will be planting an edible hedgerow to delineate the future conservation easement from the working farm.

Woodbridge Farm - 2.6.21

Join the Salmon Coalition for a tree planting along the mainstem of Chimacum Creek, adjacent to beautiful farmland on February 6th. More detailed description coming soon!

Dungeness River - 2.20.21

On February 20th, the North Olympic Salmon Coalition will be planting native trees and shrubs on the Dungeness River, just outside of Sequim. The site was recently purchased by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe with the intent of restoring it to its historic state of floodplain forest. Reforestation will improve water quality on the Dungeness River and create healthy habitat for the fish and wildlife that frequent the area.
