NOSC Executive Director Says Farewell

Thank you, Rebecca for lending your heart to 18 years of service with NOSC. You will be missed!

Dear NOSC Community,

After 18 years with the North Olympic Salmon Coalition, I’ve decided to step down as Executive Director. This has been a difficult decision. I care deeply for the mission, our staff, board, and volunteers, and I feel nothing but pride in our work and love for our team. That said, I am drawn to share my skills and passion, and to challenge myself to learn and grow even more. To that end, I’ve taken a position as the Director for the Washington Conservation Corps (WCC). I start my new job July 22nd. In that role I’ll have the privilege of leading the statewide WCC program, which is dear to me personally, and is vital to NOSC’s highly respected riparian and education programs.

As the board and staff embark on board recruitment and strategic planning, a thoughtful and exciting future will unfold. Future success depends on the strength of the organization, the dedication of the board and staff, and the continued support of our partners, grant funders, members, and donors. NOSC will continue to thrive with your support!

A transition like this needs a knowledgeable person to ensure program and project continuity, fiscal stability, and continued connection with the community. NOSC is so proud to announce that Sarah Doyle has accepted the opportunity to be the Interim Executive Director effective July 22nd, 2024. Sarah joined NOSC in 2009 as a WCC member. After seeing her excellent work ethic and eagerness to learn, we knew she would make a valuable permanent team member. Since 2010, Sarah has been playing key roles in all our programs, internal administration, and partnerships. She is well positioned to step up and lead the organization through this transition. Many of you already know and love Sarah in her role here at NOSC, and those of you who don’t, will be in for a treat when you see her thoughtful, compassionate leadership in action.

Working with staff, volunteers, board members and partners has been the best part of my job. I’ve learned from you all, been mentored by some, and have appreciated your support and advice, your encouragement and love of our mission.

I have cherished memories of my time at NOSC. I feel great pride in our ecosystem recovery accomplishments in Discovery Bay, Chimacum Creek, the Dungeness and Hoko Rivers, and along the nearshore. The fingerprints of this NOSC team will live on forever and are a legacy I am deeply proud to have been part of. I will miss you all. And I will celebrate all of your future accomplishments with pride in my heart.

With Gratitude,

Rebecca Benjamin

Executive Director

From the Board of Directors

I have always been proud to be associated with the North Olympic Salmon Coalition, and this day is no exception. Our beloved Executive Director, Rebecca Benjamin, has stepped up into a new position, and we are lucky indeed to have an internal candidate who is well-qualified to take the wheel and guide the Salmon Coalition forward. I have every confidence in Sarah Doyle; she has great depth of knowledge, and she is inspiring to work with.

As we work together as Board Chairman and Interim Director over the next few months to consolidate this transition, we will continue the trajectory of NOSC’s great salmon habitat restoration work, and the further development of our educational programs.

A Note from Sarah Doyle - Appointed Interim Director

I want to acknowledge the incredible foundation laid by Rebecca. Her vision and commitment have shaped this organization into the powerhouse it is today. Her departure marks the end of an era, but it also signifies a new chapter filled with opportunities for us to build upon her legacy. I look forward to working closely with our wonderful community as we write the next chapter of our organization’s story.

Thank you,

Sarah Doyle
