Did you know you make a tangible difference in the restoration of salmon on the Olympic Peninsula and in the education of our local youth? Volunteers, students, members, and donors are at the core of the work the Salmon Coalition undertakes. We see your impact prominently in riparian restoration, work that is integral to our mission to improve wild salmon stocks. Healthy forested riparian areas are vital to the health of our rivers, our salmon, and all the animals and plants that inhabit and grow in that zone.
Volunteers, students, and crew members who remove invasives and plant new trees and native shrubs are the drivers of sustained riparian health.
Volunteers make our world go round and our plants grow! images by (L) Charles Espey and (R) NOSC staff
For example:
- $50 will allow us to purchase 30 bareroot trees and shrubs
- $250 is enough for 50 1-gallon potted plants
- $1,000 provides buses, trees, & toilets for 1 Real Learning Real Work student field trip
- $1,500 pays for 1 day of WCC crew tackling invasive plants on the Dungeness River
- $3,500 will see 1 acre of trees planted along our riparian zones
Please join us in giving this year-end. Your gift will help improve water quality, establish healthy and diverse riparian forests, and create complex instream habitat. These hallmarks of a healthy riparian zone ensure improved rivers and streams where salmon can thrive.
We look forward to restoring North Olympic Peninsula riparian zones with your help in 2024!
With thanks,
Rebecca Benjamin
Executive Director
